Aromatherapy Candles Can Be A Great Gift Idea

If you are trying to think of a great gift to give someone and you want it to be special, then give them a gift that you have helped create. Give them something more than just a generic gift card. You want your gift to be special and for it to be something that they will use.

A perfect gift for anyone on your list is to make them a basket filled with goodies and aromatherapy candles. It is the gift that keeps on giving and will be something they will use and appreciate.

Aromatherapy candles are made of wax and essential oils. It is not quite the same essential oil that is used in body lotions, because it is a much stronger concentration.

If you were to use candle aromatherapy essential oils on your skin, then you may find it to be quite irritating. The concentration of oils has to be stronger when it is used as a fragrance for candles because the scent will be diluted with the wax, and will be burned. The result is a fantastic smelling house.

An aromatherapy candle makes a great centerpiece for a basket. You can take a decorative basket and fill it with paper tissue colored especially for whatever occasion you are celebrating. Place an aromatherapy candle in the center.

As great additions, you can include aromatherapy essential oils for fragrance burners in the same scent as the candle, or choose another one, as well as some body lotions in different fragrances. If the recipient is crafty, then aromatherapy books explaining how to make their own massage oils might be a good choice.

Okay, so a basket filled with rose candles and rose scented body lotions is not going to go over very well with a man, but that does not mean that there aren't other scents that will work. You could try sandalwood or neroli for a soothing scent that will appease the male machismo.

Vanilla is a common scent for candles and is neutral enough to be used in a man's home. Of course you may want to skip the body lotions in case he gets offended. However, most men would love a body massage, so perhaps tucking a gift certificate into the basket for massage services would be appreciated.

Aromatherapy candles will be an overwhelming success when given as a gift. There are more uses for aromatherapy essential oils than just in candles. You can also include a bag of aromatic tea, handmade soaps, and even tasty goodies to help them unwind after a long day at the office. Wrap up the basket in some colorful wrap and you have a gift that can be given to anyone.

A whole world of information about aromatherapy candles eagerly awaits you from Mike Selvon portal. We appreciate your feedback at our massage blog.

Hannah Montana Gifts

Hannah Montana Gifts for Christmas

By Tony Connor

Hannah Montana is one of the hottest things around, particularly in terms of gifts for young girls this Christmas. They make a great gift for a daughter, sister, niece etc. that are aged four to teen.

The Hannah Montana doll range has actually overtaken Barbie as the most sought after Christmas gift. And, of course, people are doing some strange and wonderful things to try and get Hannah Montana concert tickets (Best of Both Worlds).

Here are a selection of Hannah Montana gift suggestions.

Concert Tickets - This is the hottest concert in the US now, with people doing stunts, and paying silly money to get tickets. You will definitely be the hero if you get these! You can get still get tickets, but be prepared to pay!

Dolls - Hannah Montana dolls are very popular this Christmas, and some can be very difficult to get hold of. One of the most popular is the Hannah Montana "Best of Both Worlds" Singing Doll.

DVDs and CDs - These will obviously be a hit (if they don't already have them!). There are only a few DVDs and CDs.

Video Games - There seem to be more of these than DVDs! There are a number that can be played on multiple platforms. If you don't have a video game console, or can't find a game for the one you have, you can always try the TV game that plugs straight in (about $20).

Wigs - Hannah Montana wears a wig when she performs so no one can recognize her (a bit like Clark Kent's glasses). There are many wigs available varying hugely in price.

There are also T-shirts and other clothing items as well as lots and lots of toys!

You are bound to be a big hit with your young daughter if you can get the right Hannah Montana gift!

Tony Connor has agonized over what to get people for their birthdays, Christmas etc. for many, many years. In order to build upon this foundation of angst he set up http://www.brightgiftideas.com, a resource for people who need inspiration when it comes to gift giving. What To Look For When Shopping For Gifts Online

What To Look For When Shopping For Gifts Online
By Janice Kaye

More and more people each year are discovering how rewarding it is to do their gift shopping from the comfort of their computer terminal. No more fighting for parking spaces in the mall, or carrying heavy parcels to your car. With some careful planning you can do your entire gift shopping without even leaving your office or your home, at a time that most suits you.

By shopping for gifts online you are broadening the choice of gifts available in your home town. You may live in the mid-West, but this does not stop you from buying gifts from the most sophisticated stores in NY – at least those which have an online presence. Or, go further afield and buy a truly unique handcrafted gift from overseas. These exotic craft gifts will be truly appreciated by the recipient as they show that you have taken the time out to search for a truly fitting gift. Does your best friend have a passion for Australia – then look out for some original Aboriginal art. Or, is your mother-in-law passionate about the Bible – then you can buy her a unique gift hand crafted in the Holy Land.

Here are some tips to help you with your on-line gift shopping:

Make sure that the store is legitimate. Do they have a phone number and a physical address listed on their website? Try ringing the phone number to make sure that it is manned. Is it answered in a professional manner? Or, if you are answered by an answer phone, does someone get back to you promptly? If you prefer, send an online enquiry – how quickly is it replied to? Did you receive a standard response? Or did a customer service representative take the time to read your enquiry and answer you personally? If you can’t get good customer service, before making a purchase it is unlikely that you will receive it after parting with your hard earned money.

Check out the return policies, in case you or the recipient wishes to return the gift.

Research the product carefully before buying it. You can use one of the online price comparison sites to make sure that you are getting the best deal. Of course if you are buying unique handcrafted gifts, then you will not be able to do this – but here the Internet gives you an advantage by allowing you to find gifts that are not available close to home. You can use a search engine to find many unique online products in stores that are in English and the prices are quoted are in dollars. If the store does use a local currency, then there are plenty of online currency converters to help you work out its cost in dollars, and you can pay for these gifts with your credit card.

Don’t forget to take into account shipping and handling costs. Many stores will give free shipping over a certain amount, so you may wish to consolidate your gift shopping to take advantage of this. By buying out of state, you are saving sales taxes, so this can offset the cost of shipping.

Don’t forget to order in advance so that there is adequate delivery time and to avoid having to pay for expensive over-night shipping. You can have the gift sent directly to the recipient if you are not able to deliver it in person. Don’t forget to mention this when you order, so that they do not send the invoice or credit card slip to the recipient.

Most online stores will be happy to gift wrap your gift for you, to save you the time and effort. If this is not listed as a service, just ask. Most gift stores will always be happy to go the extra mile for you.

Look for a secure website when purchasing online. Once you have chosen your goods and you have chosen to “check out” you should be taken to a secure website. You can tell that the site is secure as the URL will start with “https” instead of “http”. This means that your credit card information is safe and will not be compromised. If you are still not convinced, many online gift stores will let you submit your order online and then will call you to obtain your credit card details or allow you to send them by fax.

Once you have placed your order, it is preferable to print out a record of the order, of if this is not possible then save the information on your computer in a folder labeled "shopping". This will help you follow up if your order does not arrive and you need to follow up with the store.

Hopefully I have convinced you of the merits of online gift shopping and now all that remains is to wish you a Happy and Safe Shopping Experience.

When You Give A Gift, It's The Thought That Counts, Right?

When You Give A Gift, It's The Thought That Counts, Right?
By Gina Stathopoulos

It’s a no-no to tell someone you don’t like their gift because it’s the thought that counts, right?

Sure, but just how ‘nice’ are your thoughts towards your gift giver who doesn’t listen in order to know what your likes and dislikes are? How disappointed are you when with anticipation you unwrap your gift to stare down at an ugly pair of socks, or when your husband of four years decides his wife would absolutely love a broom for Valentines Day?

Gift giving is more than just the thought. It’s the thought, the gift, the intention – the whole package. The best gifts are ones that directly think of the recipient, that’s truly when the thought counts.

If you know your boyfriend will just about die for the whole collection of South Park, then why buy him a tie? What value would your girlfriend find in a pretty package of art supplies when she has no interest in painting?

We’ve devoted a whole page on our website with “Horror Gifts” Received.

Take for example the man who received a box of chocolates from his girlfriend who should have known that he was allergic to it. Or the man whose girlfriend gave him tickets to a show he didn’t want to see.

When it comes to your loved ones, gifts shouldn’t be given out of obligation but from the heart.

Gifts that are appreciated can be practical or they can be impractical. This depends on what your recipient wants or would like.

When I was at college I really needed a text book on C programming. I kept borrowing a copy from the library but there were times when they were all taken. At that time, I couldn’t afford to buy one for myself. How would I have loved a text book as opposed to the sterling silver bracelet my then boyfriend gave me? It was a lovely gesture but…

To find the perfect gift, we have to tune into that person. Listen to what they have to say. Did you watch the Friends episode where Ross bought Rachel the broche she had seen in a shop window some months ago? What’s what I mean by tuning in. Find what the person wants and then give it to them. That’s when the thought really counts.

You know when you have done a good job with your gift selection when you absolute astonish your recipient.

There are times when we don’t know what our recipient would like. There are ‘safe gifts’ we can give. Safe gifts are flowers, a gift basket perhaps, even a bottle of wine - something that is popularly considered ‘nice’. Safe gifts are what we give people we don’t’ know too well.

From someone that has been disappointed many times and astonished others, if you are to give, listen to what your recipient wants. You will find they will treasure you and your gesture 100 fold.

Great Christmas Stocking Stuffer Ideas For Your Teenage Girl

Great Christmas Stocking Stuffer Ideas For Your Teenage Girl
By Jennifer Wasilewski

Not many things about raising teenage girls are easy; buying her Christmas presents is not an exception. You know that the chances of your little princess liking everything you've carefully picked out, wrapped, and put under the tree, are pretty slim. Stocking stuffers also present a little bit of a problem to parents who are eager to please. While small games, crayons, doll clothes and some candy were once suitable stocking stuffers your little girl needed, times have changes. Get your teenager gifts she'll love with these stocking stuffer tips.

  • Gift Certificates/Cards: Women and shopping have a love affair that has extended through the ages. Money can often seem impersonal and your child may waste it on various items and never really benefit from your cash gift. Much like cash, gift cards and certificates offer freedom of choice to recipients, while at the same time giving you some control as to where the money will be spent. You can your daughter gift certificates to her favorite clothing store, a book or music store, or even the electronics store. Many stores offer gift cards that you can use in store or online, so if your daughter loves a store that's not local to your area, consider buying her a gift card from there so she can shop online.

  • Makeup/Beauty Products: The teenage years are when many girls begin to become self aware. They are more likely to spend time on their hair, apply makeup, and want to indulge in perfumes, nail polish, and other rite of passage beauty products. Fill your daughter's Christmas stocking with a light, fragrant body sprays; like lip gloss, eye shadow, and other makeup products that you approve of; as well as other beauty essentials like nail polish, hair spray, and moisturizers. While giving your teenager makeup can seem scary to you, purchasing it for her can help you lead her in the right direction as she matures. In other words, you can go ahead and by her some simple black mascara or she can go out and buy bright blue mascara on her own.

  • Fashion Accessories: For most teenage girls, growing up requires a wardrobe transformation. They leave behind the simple shirts and pants that got them this far in search of something a little more "fashionable." Typically speaking most girls will want clothing and accessories that correspond to current trends. Look for popular accessories like jewelry, hats, leggings, and tights. Buying her jewelry doesn't have to cost a fortune since the latest trend in bracelets and necklace are often inexpensive plastic pieces like bangle bracelets and beaded necklace. Leggings and tights are also big this year so buy her a few pairs in colors that will compliment her wardrobe.

  • Necessities: Your daughter needs little things that make life easier. Fill her stocking with things she can't do without but doesn't want to buy like a deodorant, a pack of breath freshening gum in a few different flavors, and fun pens, pencils, and other school supplies. These are little things that your daughter may not want but definitely could use.

Thanksgiving Wine Gifts - How To Give The Most Pleasure

Thanksgiving Wine Gifts - How To Give The Most Pleasure
By Elaine Berry

Thanksgiving is the time for feasting, celebrating, and giving thanks for all the good things we have. So what could be a better gift for this time of celebration than wine?

Many of us visit friends or family at this time, and want to take something along as a gift. Wine is an ideal gift to take, and looks a bit more classy than a six-pack of beer! But how do you figure out how to choose the most appropriate Thanksgiving wine gifts?

  • First of all, it should go without saying that you need to make sure that your host, or the recipient of the gift, actually drinks alcohol! The most superb Thanksgiving wine gifts in the world will be wasted on a strict teetotaller - not to mention that they could well give offense.
  • As it's such a specially American festival, it's a nice idea to choose wines grown in the USA if possible. That still gives you plenty of choice!
  • A Thanksgiving dinner has a huge variety of dishes, most of them often being rich and highly flavored. Wines to serve with a Thanksgiving meal should ideally be lighter and lower in alcohol, so that they will enhance the food rather than overpowering it.
  • Of all possible Thanksgiving wine gifts, the one you really can't go wrong with is bubbly - Champagne or sparkling wine. Try a California Brut, such as NV Domaine Chandon California Brut Classic. Not only is this a great choice for popping the corks at any kind of celebration, but also, unlike many sparkling wines, it's exquisite with food. And you need the dryness of a Brut to counteract the richness of the Thanksgiving spread.
  • For a white wine you can of course play safe and choose a fruity Chardonnay from California - you certainly can't go wrong. But a perfect match for a Thanksgiving dinner would be a Riesling from Washington State, or from the Finger Lakes region of New York State.
  • The most popular choice for a red wine at Thanksgiving is California Pinot Noir. Choose a low to medium alcohol one that won't overwhelm the food. An American Zinfandel is also popular at Thanksgiving, but watch out that it's not too powerful for the Thanksgiving meal.

When giving Thanksgiving wine gifts, as with any gift, your main consideration is what will give pleasure to the recipient. But Thanksgiving is unique - you are playing a part in the nation's feeling of thankfulness and celebration. Make sure you chime into this, and you will greatly add to the happiness of the day for your friends and loved ones - and yourself!

Unique Gifts - Are They a Thing of the Past

A good idea for a unique gift.

Unique Gifts - Are They a Thing of the Past
By Nicole Maschwitz

Well are they? How did you stumble across my article? No doubt you were looking for this very thing “Unique” am I right?

Lets face it times have changed long gone are the days of knitting and crocheting. Yes I know what you are thinking; there are still a few talented people around that do these crafts. But let’s admit it now with the introduction of computers & Xbox the next generation is more interested in helping scratch from ice age rather than doing embroidery. And with mass production of goods, from China and other countries unique is becoming rarer.

Well I have made it my personal quest to find “Unique”.

Let’s start by saying that on a trip to Africa, I most definitely found it . The African tribal people would undoubtedly have to be some of the most talented people in the world.

There Beadwork/Wirework designs are truly amazing. Yes you heard right! These talented artisans for the Ndebele tribe express themselves through this very art form.

Dating back they used the beadwork mostly for ceremonial occasions, using organic materials, but now with the introduction of glass beads through overseas visitors, there artistry has turned to something with a more modern and creative twist.

Traditionally over the years, the tribal women were renowned for the ceremonial costumes and for there basket weaving, put the two together and they started creating the most beautiful designs.

Today Africa is experiencing a revolution. Numbers of talented artisans, are making these steel wire sculptures and then beading them with bright bold colors. Animal sculptures, jewelry, mobiles, wall art, decorative bottles, vases, and cutlery the list is endless.

This truly is unique artisanship it’s a must see!

Gift Ideas for a 50th Wedding Anniversary

Gift Ideas for a 50th Wedding Anniversary
by Louise Goodman

The big 50. The fiftieth wedding anniversary is an important, yet seldom reached milestone in any couple's relationship. Unlike other anniversaries, this one is such a 'biggie' that other people can feel free to celebrate it too (with the happy couple's consent, of course). Traditionally, this is the 'golden wedding', and if you are into flowers, the violet is the main theme. Typically, the kids will want to take the celebrating parents out for a nice meal, but gifts too can be given.

Remember that it is not the value of the gift that is important, it is the thought that went into it!

So what to give? Depending on budget, how about one of the following:-

  • A photo of the couple in a gilt (gold) frame.
  • Get a painting done from a photo of the couple - these are not as expensive as you might think. you can even do a version yourself by scanning a photo into your PC and then using the 'Art' filters in your paint package to turn it into a work of art.
  • If you have more than one photo, you could create a scrapbook of them for your folks, bound up in silk ribbon.
  • Nice wines or gift baskets containing the things they love (especially if they are on a diet - today is not a day for being strict with yourself!)
  • If money is no object, how about a weekend break? You can get some nice 'getaway' cruises of city breaks quite cheaply nowadays. Just make sure they can still travel!
  • Do they have major hobbies? Bird spotting? How about some new lightweight binoculars? Golf? How about some new clubs or a set of top of the range balls?
  • If they are fans of a charity, see if you can make a donation in their name. It is possible to sponsor rare animals these days, and the WWF will happily send you details if you ask.
  • AVOID trying to help them directly in a financial sense, the chances are that no matter how much they would like money, they would prefer to keep their dignity more.
  • AVOID 'gift certificates'. This implies that you know they have interests, but can't be bothered to do anything about them.
  • AVOID trying to 'muscle in' on their big day. You might think it will show love to try and organize everything, cook the food personally etc, but believe you me, at this age, they need their space, and will appreciate straight gifts or restaurant treats far a more. Never outstay your welcome - they don't have as much stamina as they used to!.

How to Plan the Perfect Christmas

How to Plan the Perfect Christmas
Author: Elisha Burberry

Kids are notoriously hard to please at Christmas.  They spend days beforehand desperate to open their presents, and when finally the hour arrives, they unwrap them all in record time, and five minutes later they’re bored again.

Sounds familiar?  If it does, you’ll be pleased to know there are some great ways to make the magic last a little longer this year.  The key to making those gifts last is by dividing them up into groups without the kids knowing.  Gifts for the family can also be done this way.

When you go shopping for your Christmas presents, think about size and weight as well as value.  We all know kids like to get big expensive presents, but you should set an overall budget to stick to, and factor in some small gifts as well to balance things out.  This will enable you to create a stocking for each child with at least half a dozen presents in it, as well as picking a couple of lighter items which can be wrapped separately and hidden in the Christmas tree, perhaps to be opened on Christmas night.

When you start looking for  Christmas gifts for kids , think about what interests each child has and try and find small items which appeal to those interests.  Jot down a list of ideas before you go shopping, and make a note of anything you see which would be ideal for a particular child.

Another great idea is to make your own Christmas crackers, and insert a small gift of your own into each one.  Making three crackers for each child works extremely well, as they can have one on Christmas Eve, one on Christmas Day and one on Boxing Day.  Small pocket money children’s toys are ideal for this purpose, and they can often be picked up for less than a pound each.  It’s worth making up a cracker before you buy anything, so you can see how big the main cavity is for holding a present.

If you really want to spread out the magic, why not create a Boxing Day present box as well?  Keep back some gifts so the kids don’t get swamped on the big day itself, and hide a box for each one which contains half a dozen smaller presents.  Small children’s games are a good idea for these boxes, as they will help prevent the kids from getting bored on Boxing Day afternoon.

By spreading out the gifts in this way rather than giving them all out in one go, not only will Christmas seem to last longer, but the gifts themselves are likely to be appreciated more.  It helps to prevent the kids from becoming overwhelmed and makes Boxing Day a day to look forward to as well.

Just remember to keep it all a secret.
